Stockton & Thornaby Ambulance Cadet Division.  Billingham Ambulance Cadet Division

In 1960 I joined the Stockton & Thornaby Ambulance Cadet Division, later being promoted to Sergeant and then Cadet Leader. I led the first competition team and we won the Yorkshire Shield at the North Yorkshire County Competition in about 1963.

In 1968 I formed the Billingham Ambulance Cadet Division and was promoted to Divisional Superintendent. We won the Yorkshire Shield.

In 2013 I was employed as an Emergency Transport Attendant, crewing an emergency ambulance in support of the NHS. I was awarded advanced first aid qualifications and engaged in taking blood pressure, oxygen saturation and blood sugar tests. I left after 6 months due to their appalling management.

The Yorkshire Shield

The first photo is the Billingham first aid team after winning the Yorkshire Shield in 1969, although I won the same shield in about 1963 as captain of the Stockton & Thornaby first aid team.
